A native Floridian, Dr. Rabin graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Microbiology and Cell Science and went on to graduate study at the College of Veterinary Medicine. There he focused on parasites of domestic animals, intending to make a career in Malaria research.
Disillusioned with animal research, he moved into the Clinical Pathology department where he spent the next eight years, ultimately supervising the departments of hematology, chemistry, urinalysis and immunology.
In 1992, Dr. Rabin returned to graduate school, this time at Life University, College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia. While there, he worked for Cryolife, Inc, a company specializing in preserving heart valves and other tissue for transplantation. His job duties were to screen potential organ donors throughout the country, and route collected tissue by air back to the laboratory.
Also during chiropractic school, he developed curriculum and wrote study guides for learning Microbiology and Public Health, as well as Pathology, toward the Chiropractic National Board Examination. He instructed hundreds of fellow students in these subjects until 1996 when he graduated Valedictorian of his class and returned to Florida to begin practicing chiropractic.
Until moving to Idaho in 2002, Dr. Rabin had dual practices in Tampa and Clearwater and served on the board of directors of a large business guild. During that time, he also assisted production of a weekly radio program on natural health, "Your Way to Wellness."
While in Boise, he has become involved with Toastmasters, an international organization devoted to teaching speaking and leadership skills. Serving as a 2004-2005 Area Governor, Dr. Rabin was given the "Area Governor of the Year" award, and won the division "Tall Tales" speaking contest in 2003. A not-so-competitive long distance runner, Dr. Rabin has finished in the back of the pack in the City of Trees Marathon and the Race to Robie Creek, as well as other smaller races. His other interests include hiking, cooking, and though often reluctant, traveling. |
